Thanks, Dusty Ventures! Man, my car needs a bath. Also, I may need a bunch more of these for all the Azteks I’m about to buy.
Wider shot for full effect. And, yes, the Nissan logo is off-center. Why? Why not, said whoever owned this car before me.

I’m glad you put that Oppo sticker more centered than that Nissan logo.
Can we expect a full review on that 100NX soon on Oppo?

That off-center logo was a rare option.
I’m going to do an NX vs. Le Car comparison. I’ve already done a few tests like how long it takes to drive to the 7-11 and get a Slurpee in each.

Everything expensive is rare!
Oh great!!! You’re gonna add footage of dashcams as well? Or sound?

If it had the normal logo, I wouldn’t have paid the premium. Probably only worth 500 with it in the center of the hatch.
Well, maybe not dashcam, but I held my phone up for a bit.

I love that steering wheel. It’s awesome. It was easier to hold the phone that way. I have to pay attention on these freeways out here in that car.

We have an old saying here: “Als je niet weet hoe het moet of hoe het zit, gebruik dan altijd plakband of kit.” Or rather: If you don’t know what to do or how to solve something, just use duct tape or blue tack.
Or maybe rubber bands.
That should be able to keep it horizontal ;-)
More of this please!!!

Ha! Awesome. Good thinking. That was just my experimental run. I’ll try again with a homemade “helmet-cam” using duct tape and a baseball cap.

Be sure to make pictures of yourself with your helmet-cam on for your behind-the-scenes documentary as well! How will you start the camera rolling?

I guess I’ll have to look in the rear view mirror, which could double as behind the scenes footage. Hopefully, I won’t just get video of the headliner and sun visors.

Well, I’ll still have press the start button, but looking in the mirror will allow me to see it.

Well, adding a passenger will affect performance. Although, Casper is much smaller than he looks on screen. And, a celebrity cameo would improve on my Youtube views. Good idea.

You actually have a youtube channel? How do I find that one?
That passenger-thing is something that withheld me from getting a Lotus or something in the past as you actually notice much difference when driving when solo or not. I learned that from hooning the Green/Blue-ish FIAT Uno.

Somehow I ended up with 2 Youtube channels and I’m still not sure why. There isn’t much on them. Just a few songs and me driving the Le Car and honking its horn.
I would imagine it made a big difference in the Uno. When I lived in Boston and drove my Subaru 360 every day, I lived at the top of a large hill and couldn’t make it with a passenger. I’d have to tell people to get out and walk. It’s interesting it would make a difference in a Lotus. Does the weight distribution get too funky?
Jobjoris
> Jonee
09/06/2015 at 15:25 | 1 |
And how does one even find that channel? “Weird Wheels” doesn’t get me any further!
Oh I don’t doubt the weight distribution to be that much of a problem when it comes to cornering. Acceleration and braking is another question though. Remember an Elise is just over 700kgs so with me in it nearly 800. Adding another 80kgs is 10%! You immediately notice that kind of weight added. Especially with little torque!

It’s under Fuldamobil, of course. It’s just some music I couldn’t find elsewhere on Youtube.

I also have a Vimeo page.
Yeah, good point. Those cars are light. The Espirit is the Lotus to have, anyway. That can take two people.

Haha, of course! But where is all this footage of the Le Car?
I totally love the Esprit. I’ve done the route of the Esprit/Helicopter chase on Sardinia from the Spy who loved me with a FIAT 500C.
That concrete wall you see there is the wall the esprit turns around once:
That was an amazing story as well: Both how the producers ended up with an Esprit (Lotus PR-manager parked a prototype of the Esprit in front of the movie’s production office) and what driver eventually was used for the actual chase (Not the movie’s own stunt driver but Lotus’ own test driver. The movie’s stunt driver could only get the Esprit to understeer).

The Le Car stuff is on my other Youtube account which suddenly appeared when I uploaded the footage to my surprise. It’s just the thing you saw and me honking the horn using the stalk.
That’s awesome. Did you go to that road specifically because of Bond? I like that you even recreated the camera angle. You should have gotten the missus to do some donuts to get some action shots. I had heard about parking the car in front of the production office, but I don’t remember reading about the Lotus test driver. That’s really funny and typical Lotus. I actually just watched that movie again. One of my favorites. And, it’s still what Lotus is best known for among the general public, I think, so a pretty shrewd move. They sold a good number of Esprits on account of that movie and it’s also the reason that car stayed in production so long, I think.

That road was somewhat hard to find. I knew it was supposed to be at the Costa Smeralda but I couldn’t find the exact locations. Just the Hotel Bond was staying in and the harbor the Esprit is delivered in. But then... I was putting gas in the 500C and I saw... A blue Subaru Impreza STI. Owned by the Italian guy working at the gas station. And then I knew he would lead me the way to awesomeness. It was hard getting all the only Italian info translated into my head but I found it. And it was great. The little FIAT really was flying on those roads.
I love The Spy who loved me as well. And the cast. Automotive or not.
The main reason the Esprit stayed in production that long probably had to do with the fact Hethel didn’t actually have enough funding to develop a successor. We’re still waiting on it ;-)

That’s really great. I bet the Fiat was a lot more fun than the Lotus. Easier to drive anyway. My favorite Bond is On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and I’d love to go to Telly Savalas’s mountain resort in that movie. I think it’s still there.
It’s true. They had no way of doing a different car. Still kind of kept them in business for a little while.

09/08/2015 at 04:48 | 1 |
Easier: yes. More fun: I doubt. Did you know that little FIAT had a windows-start button on it’s steering wheel? I pushed it once. Then a voice started talking to me. In Italian. Totally weird.
That mountain resort is still there. It’s near the Schilthorn mountain in Switzerland. And yes: I’ve been there. I doubt there’s much of Switzerland I didn’t see in my youth. I just don’t understand why that Bond is your favorite though, because of it’s un happy end? Dianna Rigg gets shot for god’s sake!
Jonee
> Jobjoris
09/09/2015 at 02:43 | 1 |
That is weird. Was it asking you if you really wanted to open the window?
You’ve been to “Piz Gloria?” That’s amazing. The ending of that one is brutal, yeah. But, I like that. It let Bond be human a little. The whole love story with those two is really good. There’s that scene where she rescues him at the skating rink and they escape in her Cougar. Great stuff. And there’s good action and fight scenes. Lots of women. It’s a perfect Bond movie. Telly Savalas was the best Blofeld, too. I really love that movie.

HAHAHA! Maybe. Vuoi veramente aprire la finestra? Haha, could be. SHOULD BE! My guess at the time was that it’s just a re-boot button. And the voice just verified Sei sicuro di voler riavviare?
Oh you’re totally right about all those things, especially Telly Savalas. But there was one thing that I could not accept. Lazenby as Bond. As an actor at all.
Jonee

09/10/2015 at 00:45 | 1 |
I really like George Lazenby. He’s obviously not a professional actor, but he’s almost a sweet Bond. He’s kind of somewhere between Connery and Roger Moore in tone. A little stiff at times, maybe, but he’s got a good presence. I think he would have gotten better if he kept going. And that opening line, “this never happened to the other fella” is brilliant.
Jobjoris
> Jonee
09/10/2015 at 15:58 | 1 |
Of course he got a good presence. He was a professional model! He just couldn’t act. Really. I guess he could have improved himself a lot over time but I just couldn’t believe the guy was James Bond. Even Timothy Dalton was a better Bond. Sorry.
The opening line WAS brilliant though. As was Emma Peel. Did you ever see those Avengers tv-series?

I still disagree. Watch that movie again.
I love The Avengers. Do remember my John Steed memorial? That was probably the coolest show ever. Everyone on it was cool. They dressed cool. They acted cool no matter what was going on. The cars were cool. They didn’t get it with that Ralph Fiennes movie.
Jobjoris

09/11/2015 at 12:44 | 1 |
Alright, I will. Seeing Piz Gloria again is worth the while anyway ;-)
I hated that Fiennes movie. Total let-down. I remember that Patrick McNee piece now you mention it. That was a terrible day. Especially liked your view on why they asked Patrick in A View to a Kill ! But Roger Moore still is my Bond...
Jonee

09/11/2015 at 15:06 | 1 |
And seeing Diana Rigg also makes it worth it. I have the blu-ray. I watch it at least once a year.
Besides Lazenby, Roger Moore is Bond to me, too, since he’s the one I watched as a kid. I want to do a piece about Moonraker since that fellow is doing his top 10 Bonds on Jalopnik, and I know he won’t include that movie. Everyone makes fun of it because of the outer space stuff, but it’s such an entertaining film. And Drax is my favorite villain. He has all the best lines.

Diana Rigg is awesome. Did you spot her in Game of Thrones?
I really love that Avengers episode with that GT40, Peel chasing that light (which eventually was discovered to be that GT40 in bare metal) in her Lotus.
Drax is a bit clean. Showing no emotions whatsoever. Which villain was the “No mr. Bond, I expect you to die!”?

Yeah, I love Game of Thrones. She’s great still. Still has that twinkle in her eye.
Oh, yeah. I forgot about that episode. That was cool. That Lotus was so perfect. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched that show.
That was Goldfinger. Drax said, “You persist in defying my efforts to provide an amusing death for you.” That was a good one. He was pretty wry that Drax.

Of course we Dutch had to deliver an evil character. Carice van Houten flashing her boobs as Melisandre . She did a great job in Paul Verhoeven’s Zwartboek as well. Also flashed her boobs in that one. Still looking natural.
I’ll never forget that episode. First time I saw it I was just reading about the GTD40, a GT40 kitcar. And that took me to the story of the real one. So when I saw it in the re-runs of the Avengers I was really blown away. I really dig that GT70 though, too bad they never get that one produced.
Hahaha, that’s a god one as well. Gert Fröbe, of course! He did play so many German soldiers/officers. Maybe I do think he’s my favorite villain. He had a running character in the last German Dr. Mabuse films as well.
Goldfinger’s sidekick Oddjob I really love as well. Next to Jaws the best villain’s sidekick.

Oh yeah. I did recognize her from that movie. Her boobs look the same. She takes care of herself. She’s quite good as Melisandre. The whole cast of that show is incredible. One of the best I’ve ever seen.
The GT70 was gorgeous. It’s a crime it didn’t go into production. Colani’s GT80, however...
Yeah, Gert Fröbe played a good weirdo. I love those Mabuse movies. I’m a big Fritz Lang fan.
The book for Goldfinger is really funny. There’s a lot of anti-Korean rants. Ian Fleming really hated Koreans. He keeps describing Oddjob as this disgusting murderous criminal and says the rest of Korea is no better. I know he was posted in Asia during the war. He must have had some kind of bad experience at the hands of Koreans and held a big grudge.

I think I’ve only saw one movie with her that didn’t show her boobies. That was “Minoes”. A child’s movie. There’s your reason the boobs were properly covered. That first season was amazing. But somewhere in season 2 I’ve lost attention somehow.
Colani... How did we end up on that one... I liked his GT2. And the Alfa Romeo he did but we’ve covered that one already. Still don’t know what cartoon-bird resembles this one!
Never knew that Korean twist. I haven’t read a lot of Fleming’s. Casino Royal and For your eyes only IIRC. In English.

Oh! AND YOU KNOWING DR. MABUSE!!!! Did you see it in German or some English dubbed version? And which one did you see? Die Tauzend Augen des Doktor Mabuse? That’s one of Fritz’ latest movies. I truly love his The Woman in the Window .
Jonee

I think it’s stayed pretty good. This past season was the first one where it took a slight dip in quality. I think because they had less book material to adapt.
Yeah, I still haven’t figured out the bird that looks like. One day it’ll some to me. We got on Colani from this.
Moonraker and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service are the best books. They’re actually pretty exciting. I bet there’s a Dutch translation. As the movies went along, they were less and less like the books. OHMSS is pretty close, but for Moonraker they just used the name and the spaceship. The Spy Who Loved Me is also a different story that’s told from the point of view of a woman who meets Bond like halfway through the book. It’s interesting.

I’ve really only seen the Lang ones. I think the first two I saw in German, and Thousand Eyes was a dub. Woman in the Window and Scarlet Street are two of my absolute favorite films. Edward G Robinson is so good in Woman in the Window.

So you’ve got time to view movies, read books and play LP-records? Something’s wrong with my life... Books I only read while on holiday. Movies when it’s autumn/winter. I play my records though: going to the storage-unit to get another batch of my collection.
Scarlet Street I don’t know. Added.
